Rome is one of the most beautiful cities in the world but if you have already been there a lot of times and you are coming to Civitavecchia with the Cruise Ship here are the recommendations and tips for you. Follow these tips and you will experience Civitavecchia as a local person learning the culture and the specialities of the old city.

1) Shop at the local daily market of Civitavecchia. Here you can find seasonal fruits and vegetables as well as souvenirs from Italy. The people shouting, the colours and the bouquet of flavours in the air make this italian experience unforgettable.

2) Eat fresh fish in the best fish restaurants of Civitavecchia. If you want a great lunch and a beautiful view enjoy Caprasecca al Mare or for the raw specialities Crudo Fish Bar but for the really best fish experience you have to go to the hidden places like Forma, Pane Amore e Fantasia. People from Rome and from the cities nearby are coming here to eat the best fish. If you don't like fish you have to enjoy Ottanta Fame in Piazza Saffi, the medieval part of the old city.

3) Visit the medieval part of Civitavecchia near the cathedral. From Piazza Leandra walk through the Archetto to Piazza Saffi and finish with an aperitif at Taberna Leandra or at Sebastiani. Wine tastings with a specialist are available if prebooked.

4) Have a walk along the promenade of Civitavecchia from the Michelangelo's Fortress to the Pirgo. The Marina of Civitavecchia is full of bars, restaurants and during the summer the so called cocomerari. You can have a sit while enjoying the great view of the Thyrrenian Sea and tasting a slice of watermelon or a refreshing exotic fruit, an italian espresso or a real cappuccino. Don't forget that in Italy you never drink a cappuccino after lunch or dinner, never!

5) Try the maritozzo con la panna from the Chalet del Pincio. This typical pastry from the Roman culinary tradition is so special that you won't regret it.

6) Take a real italian ice-cream, the gelato from Armonia e Poesia. Undoubtedly is the best gelato in town with seasonal flavours and a delicious taste. The Pistacchio is from Bronte, located on the slopes of the vulcan Etna and has its authentic colour green/brown. Not to miss also the hazelnut from the Langhe in the Piedmont region.

7) Enjoy Aquafelix, the biggest aquatic park of central Italy, open from 1st June to 8th September 2019 that is family and kids-friendly. During the colder months relax at the Thermal Bath of La Ficoncella, which has a temperature of minimum 36 degrees. Near this natural hot spring the emperor Trajan built 2000 years ago the Taurine Baths, that is today a visitable archaeological complex.

8) Cooking class with a real Chef & Wine Tasting with a professional Sommelier at Forma, the best Restaurant in Town.
