Four wonders of Rome - Your guide to the hidden secrets of Rome

The Farnese Palace is considered one of the first and best examples of Renaissance palaces in Rome. Michelangelo and Antonio da Sangallo il giovane were some of the architects that worked here. The palace is located in the beautiful Farnese square decorated with two fountains, that originally were two basins coming from the thermal baths of Caracalla. Today the so called "dice" Farnese is the seat of the French Embassy. Noteworthy is the fresco on the ceiling of the main room made by the Carracci brothers and representing the Loves of the Gods and mythological scenes.

The Caetani staircase is made of 120 blocks of marble and is decorating the Ruspoli Palace in the city centre of Rome.

The Borghese Palace is also called "Borghese harspichord" due to the unusual shape. It was the residence of the Borghese family inside the city-walls. From this palace are coming many masterpieces that are now on display in the beautiful Galleria Borghese. The second entrance is called "keyboard of Palazzo Borghese" and faces the Fontanella di Borghese.

The front door Entrance of Sciarra-Colonna Palace is on the Via del Corso, the main shopping street that is leading from Piazza Venezia to Piazza del Popolo.
