Wine Tasting Falerno del Massico - the Wine of Ancient Rome

Masseria Felicia, a family driven company, offers Wine Tastings at the slopes of the Massico Hill. It is possible to visit the vineyard, the cellar and to try 3 different wines. Usually you will be served first a glass of white Falanghina, then it is the time of a rosè called Rosalice, that is the result of the vinification in white of the Aglianico grape. We finished of course with a glass of Falerno del Massico DOC, the wine of Ancient Rome. The Falerno del Massico that is produced in this area is made with Aglianico and Piedirosso grapes and is aged for at least 3 years in chestnut and in oak barrels and then the last year in the bottle.

In Pompei you can read an inscription that is saying:

With one "as" you can drink good wine, with two you can drink the best, with four you can drink Falernum.
